My Story

I spent the first half of my life caring way too much about other people’s opinions and expectations of me, and as a result, I lost my ability to trust the nudges and whispers inside of me. I became disconnected from my intuition or what I now call my inner sense of ‘rightness’. Today, I know how to listen for and feel into those internal cues and use them as a wise guide. It’s an honour to guide my clients to do the same for themselves.

It was a powerful internal whisper that led me to brave a major life shift as I approached turning forty, leaving a long and successful career in the Canadian television industry to train to become a Certified Professional Coach. I loved my former work as a TV producer and Production Executive at a national broadcaster, but I had gotten to a point where it felt like there was something more for me, even though I couldn’t initially name what ‘more’ looked like.

I felt increasingly disconnected and misaligned with what was I doing, which directly impacted how I was showing up - not just at work but at home with my young daughter and husband - and it didn’t feel like the ‘real me’ anymore.

My leap wasn’t linear and it certainly wasn’t easy, but I made a conscious choice to face some big fears in order to go after my heartfelt dream of working in a helping profession.

My inner critic had lots to say about that!

It was a rocky road to making that transition over a few tumultuous years. It took facing lots of discomfort, self-doubt and internal struggle but there was no other way than forward once I acknowledged that my former career no longer aligned with my values, purpose and overall sense of life fulfillment.

My journey to empowerment involved working through my own challenges with self-criticism, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, control, body-image and self-worth. I was able to discover and appreciate my core values, innate gifts and deeper purpose (thanks to some amazing coaching!).

Discovering my inner strength allowed me to take bold steps through uncertainty and fear to nurture my dreams. I uncovered some powerful inner badassery and proved my fears wrong.

Now I get to help people move through the challenges they face with newfound confidence and trust within.

I get to partner with clients in a creative and compelling dynamic to help them live their version of fulfilling lives. This work is so rewarding and aligns with some of my highest core values of authenticity and connection.

My approach invites all of us to give ourselves permission to be human. We’re complicated and messy and for every strength that we each have, there is usually a shadowy side that can feel like weakness.

In my work with clients, we explore and bring compassion to all parts of ourselves, even the parts we don’t like. This is how we find true inner confidence, leadership, clarity, and tools to work through our challenges and make beneficial changes.

I bring mindful self-compassion into to my work with clients, which has had a huge impact on my own personal growth. This helps people gain the resources and strategies to motivate themselves from a compassionate place instead of an oppressive one.

Personal development is about cracking yourself open and getting curious about what’s going on ‘underneath’ in order to make the shifts necessary to live a more fulfilling, ‘true to yourself’ life.

I’m a work in progress, just as we all are! I relate to my clients because I’ve been there myself. I used to live my life ‘tightly’ - always trying to control things which made me feel trapped and unhappy. Through my own personal development work I discovered what it feels like to experience peace within for the first time in my life at almost forty years old!

It’s never too late to doubt your doubts and trust your dreams.
